Open since 1854, the St Paul Farmers market is located near the river in downtown. Offering a variety of foods and products, this market is open all year round.

Nature and Landmarks

Como Park Zoo & Conservatory is a well-known space that has fun for everyone. With many animals and both indoor and outdoor gardens, its a great place to spend the day.
The city of St Paul has many landmarks, with the more well known being the State Capitol building, the Cathedral of St Paul, and Union Depot. Other note-worthy landmarks include the historic Summit Avenue homes (like the James J. Hill House), and the 'Peanuts' characters statues around town (as author Charles Schulz was a St Paul native). The 24-hour street car cafe Mickeys Diner, and the Wabasha Street Caves (which was once a gangster hot spot during the prohibition era) are also popular attractions.
Community, Events and Tourism
As the biggest event of the year, the Minnesota State Fair takes place in late summer. It is affectionately known as the great Minnesota get together- bringing in around 2 million people annually, beat only by Texas.
The St Paul Winter Carnival and the European Christmas Market are two popular winter events. The winter carnival takes place on the state fair grounds, and includes a fire & ice run, a parade, ice sculptures, and ice castles. The Christmas market brings a taste of Europe to the Depot, with many food and shopping options, as well as Santa and his reindeer.
